went out the other night with one of my best friends to shoot some photos on the bucks county/northeast philadelphia border along route 1. this stretch of road has always freaked me out, with its sketchy gas stations and motels that are no strangers to monthly drug busts and dudes meeting up with prostitutes. this summer, a cop was recently arrested after a young girl called 911 and said she was being held against her will in a motel room a half mile south from where i took this photo. this little pocket of bucks county is kind of a place where not many stop, and only drive through at 65MPH. most people just stop at the wawa not far down the road, where once before a man had been stabbed to death. behind this motel is a fence that separates this eerie stretch of route 1 from a suburban landscape filled with nothing but hundreds of ranch houses.
i’ve been wanting to shoot this long exposure for a long time, but have been too scared to do it by myself. finally, i got it.
