January 15, 2012
Saturday, January 7th, 2012.  This day was awesome as well.  I spent the night at the Gallagher’s.  Their house is seriously one of my favorite places.  When I woke up, I just hung around.  I think Mimi got up first, and then eventually Joe and Maddie came down.  We hung out for a bit, and then the Maryland dudes loaded up their van and left.  Maddie, Joe, and I went into the borough of Kennet Square to pick up a cake for Mrs. Gallagher and then went to Talula’s Table, I believe.  Joe and Maddie got things, but I didn’t get anything.  We just hung out.  A friend of Joe’s from school was working.  We sat out front.  I was wearing just a polo, the polo that was once Ed McNulty’s.  I was a little chilly because we were sitting in the shade, but it was nice in the sun.  We also took Mr. Gallagher’s truck.  We had to meet him on the way to Kennet to give him something he forgot in the truck.  He was on his way to the city.  After hanging out in the borough, we washed the truck.  Maddie and I hung out in the truck as Joe washed.  Joe was being funny while he cleaned the truck.  Well, at least Maddie and I thought it was funny.  Maddie was like, “I always wanted to drive this truck.”  She was sitting in the driver’s seat.  When Joe finished washing the truck, he was like, “Maddie, do you want to drive the truck?”  She was like, “Sure!”  So, Maddie drove us back to Joe’s.  We drove right by Kennet High School.  We took a different way back to Joe’s house, and it was very pretty.  We drove by Joe’s favorite house.  It was this little house that was very close to the road, and behind it was a creek.  It was a neat house.  Some of the houses were huge.  One house was incredible, and Joe said it was owned by a mushroom farmer.  I find it nuts that people in that area know what people do for a living in that neighborhood.  If there a handful of large houses like that in Bensalem, I don’t think we would know what the people did for a living.  There are a lot of large houses in that area.  When we got back to Joe and Mimi’s, Joe took a shower as Maddie and I took Vlad for a walk.  I put two pieces of bread in the toaster, buttered them up after Joe showed me that the butter was in this nice ceramic butter dish, and then went out for a walk with Maddie and Vlad.  The walk was incredible.  We walked across the  cul de sac, along the side of someone’s house, through someone’s backyard, and then into an apple orchard.  On the other side of the apple orchard was a very large hill, and on top of it was a house.  It was incredible.  It was beautiful.  Vlad was having lots of fun, running up to things, lifting his leg, and not even peeing.  Maddie and I just laughed at him.  I don’t think I will ever forget this walk.  It was perfect, other than the large amounts of geese shit that was hanging out on the ground.  We walked through the aisles of apple trees, and then we ended up walking up the hill to this thing that looked like a cross, and then back down.  I wonder if Joe and Maddie have ever taken that walk together.  It would have been nice if Joe wasn’t in the shower, but it’s okay, because we all had a really nice drive back to the city.  After the walk, Maddie and I went back to the house.  Maddie and I played with Vlad on the front lawn as he was tied to his leash.  Eventually, Joe came outside and the three of us just talked about stuff.  Shortly after this, we said bye to Mrs. Gallagher, after Joe gave her one of his hoodies, and then we got in my car and headed toward the city.  Joe said to take Route-1 back to the city, and I’m happy we did.  I used to take Route-1 all the way from my house to Longwood Gardens all the time when I was little, but I don’t really remember the drive, so I was excited to go on this part of Route-1 that I didn’t remember.  I LOVE highways.  Before I left, I got a text from Alex Tack saying that he found the cord for his stereo and that we could finally have an “…Is a Real Boy” Say Anything hangout.  This reminded me of Say Anything, so I put on Say Anything in the car.  I had my window down.  It was like 65 degrees out this day.  We ended up stopping at the Wawa near the Route-1/202 intersection.  I convinced Joe to buy a large bag of Herr’s sweet mesquite kettle cooked chips.  He ended up sharing them with me and Maddie in the car.  The drive was absolutely perfect.  We sang along to Say Anything as the wind came in through my window, and the end up the day sun filled my Bonneville.  When we reached this certain part of Route-1, Joe said to look right once we reached this part of an overpass on a turn because sometimes you can see the skyline.  I don’t think we could see it.  We ended up driving through Wawa, PA.  I’ve always wondered where it was.  Funny, I guess I drove through it all the time when I went to Longwood when I was little.  We eventually got into the city, and Route-1 turned into City Line Ave.  I hadn’t been on City Line Ave. in a long time.  It felt awesome in that area.  I think living up there would be cool.  The houses were beautiful.  Overbrook Farms is the nicest neighborhood.  By that time, I was full of chips and felt crappy about it.  Throughout the drive Maddie was on the phone with her sister, because they were meeting her and Rachel and some others at The Barbary for the Tigers Jaw show.  Tigers Jaw was playing with Balance, Code Orange Kids, and Captain, We’re Sinking.  By the time we got to the zoo, “I Want to Know Your Plans” came on, and I didn’t skip it because we were listening to “…Is A Real Boy” in its entirety.  When it started playing I said, “This song always makes me cry.”  At the time, Maddie had just about a week left in the USA before she left for Valencia, Spain until May.  I am actually talking to Maddie on Facebook as I write this.  Her plane leaves Philly at 6:10PM.  I am currently trying to cheer her up.  Anyway, this song made Maddie cry, being entirely appropriate for her and Joe’s situation.  Ha, I remember looking over to my right window.  I don’t think I was looking over at her, but I noticed she turned her head because she didn’t want me to see she was crying.  When the song was over she said, “Thanks for making me cry, Evan.”  I didn’t mean to, haha.  You can’t skip that song.  It’s such an incredible song.  I dropped them off at The Barbary.  I Everyone was out front waiting to get in.  I saw Megan Burke from across Frankford Ave.  At first, I couldn’t tell if it was her.  When Maddie and Joe got their stuff out of my car, I walked across the street to say hi to her.  I think she was with Kara Boles, and someone else.  We said hi for a second, and then I went back to my car after saying bye to Joe and Maddie.  As I was getting into my car, I saw Bailey Van Ellis, the drummer of Balance and Composure.  Him and I used to talk a lot during my frehsman year of college, and stopped talking once Balance started gaining momentum.  I yelled from across the street, but he didn’t hear me.  So, I ran across real quick and grabbed both of his shoulders from behind.  He said hey, but didn’t seem too excited, which I thought was pretty lame.  When I saw Title Fight at the Lifetime show, they made sure to approach me and say hi to me. They didn’t even just say hi, they hung around and tried to carry conversation for a few minutes.  Never do they say hi to me without a genuine smile, no matter how big that band gets.  When I left The Barbary, I heard Code Orange Kids begin their set with their signature, “HUUUUUUUUHHHHH!”  I went to Chad’s afterward to hang.  We hung out as he made coffee in his French press, and then sat in the living room.  Alex and Sam came back to the house as I was in the bathroom taking a piss.  Chad and I were about to go out for a walk in Northern Liberties.  Alex came with, and I asked Sam if she wanted to come, but she said she was just going to hang around, paint her nails, dye her hair, and other stuff.  I think she gave me a hug and said, “Thank you so much for asking me!  That was really nice!  That made my night!”  I parked in the parking lot by the piazza, and then we walked up to the the palm market or whatever, by the foodery, because I wanted chocolate milk.  Weird.  I never drink chocolate milk, but for some reason, I was really craving it.  I ended up getting a bag of Chex trail mix, but no chocolate milk because they didn’t have any.  The foodery didn’t have any either.  We went to go check one more corner store, but it was closed.  We ended up hanging out in Liberty Lands.  When we first got there, I walked over to the Pink Dolphin market thing and and finally found chocolate milk.  We hung out in Liberty Lands for a bit.  It was nice.  It was a bit chilly too.  Afterward, we went back to their house.  Sam was in the living room watching, Being John Malkovitch.  I had never seen it before, but it was really good.  We caught it close to the middle of the film.  After this, I went home for the night.  It was seriously a perfect day.
